Earth by Diana Menezes

What if the mountains did more

than just expand their chest?
What if the rivers carried secrets and
not just tears of withering hearts?
Does a moon lend its light
only in darkness and
do leaves fall to show us how to let go?
Do stars speak through their glimmer,
is that why we gasp as they
   tumble out of the sky?
Is it too much to drink a sunset,
as loneliness crams itself into us?
Oh! that craving to be healed,
yet to find comfort on the very ground
we tread-  Earth – HOME.

Diana’s poem moves one to the core. Sadness, loss, and the will and hope to move on. Yes, it’s all here. Earth – home, the only place we know. It comforts us in many ways and is the very basis of our existence. We are one .
    Congratulations Diana!

This is incredibly dreamy. We all look up at the sky and wonder about the moon and stars, but your questions are haunting and so lovely.
These lines really touch my heart:

“Is it too much to drink a sunset,
as loneliness crams itself into us?
Oh! that craving to be healed,
yet to find comfort on the very ground
    we tread- Earth – HOME.”

Such true words, we all can appreciate that sense of craving I think at one time or another in our life. Thank you for sharing and congratulations for your publication. Hugs, Joni
