Blank and Bold by Meenu Saini

Cemetery seems horrible from outside but

For insiders this is exceptionally beautiful.

Alive deer escapes from the lion but the

Dead is safe if the proud king is around.

To remove intense dark,

Candle requires a bit of spark.

Oscillation without knock,

Moments infringe rules of the clock.

Not capable enough to pull the cart; the

Worth of a little rat ask from the cat.

Day to night, the sun revolves around just

For a glimpse of clamant moonlight.

Disaster glorifies dead castle,

Immense silence after dread battle.

Devil’s dream turned fierce,

Storms freely reciting prayers for peace.

People easily accept the fake truth because

The fake truth is comparatively easy to accept.

Mostly human beliefs, traditions and the behaviour are

Survived by the myths, malice and the rumour.

We all are equal not alike,

Equally respect the right to dislike.

Unwritten in queue to unfold,

Few are blank whereas others are bold.

Meenu’s lovely writing speaks of truths that are undeniable and long prevailing. It’s need that dictates value, and the spaces for the living and the dead are fiercely demarcated. Acceptance is what one wills it to be, and the world will always be balanced by the blank and the bold. Some things are difficult to change.
    Congratulations Meenu!

This is a very unique piece and to me describes how differently people see all sorts of things, a focus on the dead but also on other common occurrences. Allow people their differences of opinion and hope that people will be gracious to you as well. Lovely piece. Congratulations and nice to meet you here. Joni
