PANDEMIC by Michael Walters

(An Acrostic Poem)

Panic begins as the malaise reaches across all types of borders

And an invisible war is declared out against these microscopic invaders

National divides along ideological lines, some invested in science, others in publicity

Determined to belittle the virus into defeat

Except that particular defense didn’t work

Making things more difficult for everyone

It highlights how important it is for all of us to work together

COVID will not define us.  Our reaction to it will.

Michael’s words sum up the reality of Covid 19 and the toll it has taken on the world. Some have transformed this into a man made agenda while others have understood that nature and disease are hard hitting forces. Let’s find a common ground to fight and overcome this together. We can.
    Congratulations Michael!

Great poem to sum up Covid 19. ‘Determined to belittle the virus into defeat’ – love this line. Again, it sums up so much in so few words. I really didn’t think I could enjoy a poem about the pandemic, but I did. Thanks for sharing your intelligent and enjoyable work, Michael. Your poem has got an infectious, beautiful flow – and that’s a virus I’m not afraid of catching!
