Brains to Practice On by Don Matthews

surgeons practicing brain surgery on a dummy

Adelaide has made a world breakthrough

In printing the first 3D brain

Before surgeons do operations

On patients, their replicas can train

Scans they are taken of real brains

Ones that have tumours within

Computer then 3D’s a model

For surgeons to scalpel within

If something goes wrong in the process

The surgeon, a tumour can’t find

No harm is then done to the patient

Cos 3D brains really don’t mind

Surgical tourism’s being launched here

With 40 invited surgeons round globe

Each with a head to operate on

Frontal, occipital back lobe

    1. So if you gotta problem up top Shobana come down here and get 3D-brained. Won’t feel a thing when they dig around inside. May be nothing……

Don takes us to a point and place in time where science and technology have partnered for the good of humankind. Being able to practice surgery on an exact replica before the actual operation is a boon that will save many in delicate and dangerous situations. Let’s hope that this becomes a medical trend that spreads around the world.
    Congratulations Don!
