Cloudless Drifter by Jeff Flesch

oranges and limes fill the sky

a scent reminiscent of another time

when love was like a drop of candy in the winter

and the fields were dusty

a cloudless drifter

was

I

looking for another relation

the wonder

filling my mind

while birds chirped on the trees broken limbs

and I continued to swim

into the abyss

black and translucent light

filtering into the night

creating another aspect of my life

Jeff’s poetic dedication to heartbreak and the will to move on is wrapped in the moods of the seasons. It’s never easy to accept that a love once cherished no longer exists. But like all things, love is at times inescapable from change. The last line flicked a switch in my head, indeed an ‘Aha’ moment. ‘Creating another aspect of my life’ – that’s the answer to healing, recovering, and discovering newer emotions, thoughts, and relations. We must give ourselves the chance to grow, evolve, and adapt.
    Congratulations Jeff!
