can you sense me noiseless in midair
between long grey hovering moss
for only cypress moments live there
time slides off my round hips into light
hummingbirds toss nectar impishly
rainbows play hide and seek out of sight
hay plays a tune, crickets spin a yarn
sweet whiffs of hay encircling me
God’s vista smiles with ardor from a barn

Joni’s poetry inspires one to look at life and nature with eyes that can only relish. Her soft and beautiful words influence the mind to imagine goodness and coax the heart to feel all the possible love that it can. There’s so much to appreciate and summer is one such season. The heat, the sun, and the trickle of sweat down one’s neck and back. A lot can be left to individualistic interpretation. That’s the charm of creative writing.
Congratulations Joni!
