It stares out from the screen at me
I stare right back at it
Yes, it says, I am quite blank
And, yes, I feel a git.

I’ve got no spelling errors
Syntax perfect, yes
I’m just a piece of white blank verse
Examine me, address!

But I’ve got better things to do
Than look at verse blank white
Despite your perfect spelling and
Your syntax being right

But poet, are you saying
You’ve given up on me?
My white blank screen’s no challenge to
Create your poetry ?

(My screen’s making me feel guilty…..)

Don’s poetry is the silent dialogue every writer has with their screen. You may agree or disagree, but your screen might have something to say about it. The guilt can give you nightmares and make you shudder in the day. Every time that screen comes into sight, you might just want to curse and swear. But at last, you sit down and make peace with it, arranging your words upon it. And like an ever forgiving mother, it simply lets you get away with it. Thanks mommy…
Congratulations Don!

I think we have all been there before. I surely know that feeling. Music helps me a lot but I end up seeing something “shiny” on the screen, usually an ad. haha – easily distracted, nice piece Don
