No One has Seen True Horror until they’ve Seen a Heaven without Animals by Bogdan Dragos

a dog doesn’t know

much about

the world,

as most animals don’t

and they don’t care

about the world

or about their inability

to comprehend it

Animals are perfectly

like human babies

Well I knew this girl

who was an animal rights

and couldn’t make her

peace with

animals not following their

owners to heaven

Animals don’t go to heaven,

is what religion stated

She had visited heaven

a few times

and came back. It’s done through

intense meditation

and with the help of

a few special mushrooms

And every time she had

visited heaven

she saw no

animals there

If heaven doesn’t have

then heaven is not worth

going to,

she concluded

and she meditated some

more and

had more out-of-body

and experimented with

new shrooms and herbs

It eventually became clear

to her

that animals don’t go

to heaven

because they didn’t have

a savior like

Jesus Christ

to die for them, to

redeem them in the eyes

of the creator

She loved her German Shepherd

more than she loved

anything in life, more

than she loved herself

But so did God love

His son Jesus

and still gave him as sacrifice

for a higher good

When she drugged her dog

and nailed its paws,

tail and tongue

to a timber board with a

power drill

she had not the least drop

of sadism in her

It was all for

a higher cause. It was to buy

the animals their

right to go to heaven

She named her dog

Jesus Christ, of course

Even after the local authorities

took her into

she was happy. She knew

that the humans who haven’t

seen heaven wouldn’t

understand and didn’t

expect them to

“Forgive them, Father, for

they know not

what they do.

They thought they have seen

horror. Oh, but how wrong

they are. No one

has seen true horror

until they’ve seen

a heaven without animals!”

Bogdan’s twisted tale of blind devotion to a fanatical belief and cause could make one’s head spin. A heaven without animals? I’ve never really thought about that before reading this dark piece of poetry. Sacrifice for the greater good has been amply documented in history. But crucifying a dog for the so-called admittance of animals to heaven may be taking one’s obsessions and derangements too far. How about considering that had the dog known its fate, it would have made a dash for a saner owner. This is an imaginative piece which exhibits magnificent execution. Will stay with me for a long, long time.
    Congratulations Bogdan!

    2. LOL!!!😂Exactly and I’m Laughing to keep from crying the woman going to justice helped me stomach this piece. Just think about it though in the Good Book(Bible) and I’m not too much of a thumper but they sacrificed animals way back when to make things come to pass. Time made us more civilized. And who’s to say they wasn’t civilized back in their day sacrificing. And some cultures sacrificed people to their Gods. And Thank God for Time & Evolution to Balance us out. Can you see the World if it never Evolved ?I could never imagine. This piece is definitely a conversation piece.

      1. I’ve heard some funeral parlors are now offering a combi-casket to fit you and your doggy friend when it’s time to climb the stairway. Don’t know what they do if your doggy’s still watching you in the box. pays not to ask I guess………

  5. This is such a profound piece, Bogdan! And it reflects how so many people feel. Hopefully, when we do die and go to heaven, we will see animals there. The essential truths in this poem are shocking, horrifying, and difficult to accept, but right on the money. Excellent piece!

Well Dragos you have done it once again. This is a subject my husband and I have talked about many times and l too hope we find some of our most beloved animals in heaven. However, I don’t really think we can begin to fully understand the feeling or beauty that heaven will have. Your story was interesting to me for several reasons. The main one is the same one each time, “How on earth to you come up with these ideas?” There is always so kind of crazy, wild twist at the end, for the woman seemed to be so sweet and really she was a bit of a sadist. Perhaps her dog will be in heaven but she won’t. haha (Some times I hold my breath till I get to the end of your stories – wow, what a ride Dragos) Have a great week, sending hugs

I guess the world is full of people who want to do good, but end up making things way, way worse. History is full of examples of leaders who committed some of the worst atrocities while being 100% certain that they’re doing the right and necessary thing.
One doesn’t have to be a political leader to commit acts of terror, though. All that’s needed is a strong enough belief in an idea, then the actions will follow…

You are so welcome. I love these Hugs, Dragos! You are spot on about history my friend. Witches come to mind, I probably would have been burnt back during the 1600’s. I love your work Dragos, you always get me at the end every time and I just love that. Have an amazing week, big hugs right back. Joni

A heaven without animals seems no heaven at all. I would miss my former pets a lot. I got more love from them than from any human I ever encountered.
