Wonky by Don Matthews

My eyes are seeing double

Double on the screen

Everything I seem to post

Has a double mean

Took myself to optom who

Deals with wonky eyes

To me, “please cover left, then right”

I asked him wonky? Why?

You’re old he said, get muscle droop

Won’t do what brain tells to

We fix you up, no problem

For you we will redo

I go next week to pick up

From optom, my new lens

To make the jolly doubles go

And coincide again

Cool. From time to time, our bodies needs these adjustments.

Don can take the simplest of topics and infuse them with the cleverest wit. As I grow older, I can definitely relate to vision that doesn’t wish to cooperate. Scrunch those eyes or keep them open wide, seeing is believing when things are out of focus. Maybe need to pay the doc a visit or just deny what my mind already knows. Who says the heart leads in the right direction.
    Congratulations Don!

    1. Thanks Joni. I wasn’t laughing at the time of seeing everything double. Having now been fixed up with prescription glasses to line the wonky eye in line with the other one all is happy and gay again……
