she came out of her
house after
the heavy rain stopped
and walked up to
the bridge
and leaned forward
over the rail
and watched the
turbid river flowing by,
disappearing with
infinite length below her
feet
The rail was
wet and
she wiped it with
a few tissues
and then got her notebook
out
Using a simple pencil
she began drawing
the river
There wasn’t much to it,
just a couple of lines
but she gave them a nice
form
And when she was
done with the
drawing
she began writing
Wrote a poem into
the drawn river
Eternal sensation of
falling
I hear an inhuman voice
calling
Feel my awareness
crawling
underneath. Is it angel
for real or just a myth?
I shall jump toward it
I shall jump toward it
I’m ready this
world to quit
She ripped the paper
and crumpled it
and unfolded it again
and crumpled it
again
It was soft now
She laid it on the dry
rail and
reached into her backpack
for the little bag of
weed
She poured the weed
on the soft paper
and rolled it,
put it together
When it was done
she lit it
and puffed a long smoke
held it inside
released it
watched the brown
river below
She didn’t need anything
in this world. Had all
she could ever want
“It’s simple,” she preached
to the water below. “First
you get rid of the
idea of sin. Nothing you can do
can anger or displease God.
Second, you believe that
God gives you anything. Anything
at all. You’ve but to ask for it.
The right way to
ask is to believe that you
already have it. If you
can hold it in
your mind
you’ll be holding it in
your hands.
It’s all being done unto you
according to the strength
of your faith.
These days, when I want something
I write it on a piece
of paper
and then roll it
and smoke it.
Today I want to meet with
angels. With my higher self. Face
to face.
And I get exactly what I
ask for.”
She dragged the last
smoke
Held it in
And jumped into
the water
As always,
she got exactly what
she asked for

Bogdan’s poetic piece has several shades of dark to it. To not fear one’s end but believe that it’s a calling to be answered comes from a deep and disturbed mind that views the world in a dismal yet unique shade of color. And to realize one’s prayers by writing them and smoking them is simply portraying oneself to be a power that can’t be denied. I wish there was so much influence of positivity upon a person. But darkness always tends to have the upper hand.
Congratulations Bogdan!

This one’s (loosely) based on a real person, actually. Someone who got a bit too deep into spirituality…

Is there a difference between a simple pencil and a complicated one? Just asking……..

Only in the eye of the beholder, I’d say…

Another great story Dragos. I am sure you know by reading my work I am a person of faith but sometimes people can get mixed up with the wrong crowd or get the wrong idea all together. I liked the way you wrote this character’s psyche. The thought that she could write down or draw a prayer and it would be answered when she smoked the paper to her joint is wild. So creative you are indeed. Perhaps she did met her angels but I think we are suppose to stick around until God says it is time to go. Very interesting character in person I bet, hope she is ok. Sending hugs and appreciation for your words. Joni

(ゝ◡・)ノ Thank you very much, Joni!
Personally, I think all religions and faiths are perfectly okay, as long as their followers are not doing something too crazy, like killing in the name of their god, or something like that.
In later years, a lot of people seem to lean towards the New Thought movement. Not saying there’s anything wrong with that, but too many of those people will literally read self-help and spirituality books all day and collect all the new titles, and never actually apply the knowledge in there. The problem is that they think they’re doing so much, when in fact they’re only stepping in place (by not applying anything they learn from the books).
And then there are those who think they’re literally God now and start behaving so :))
I think there’s a balance that has to be maintained here so as not to be too inclined towards either hopelessness or megalomania.

Well said my friend. I don’t even know about, “The New Thought Movement.” Unfortunately there are so many people that have an agenda with their religion. My faith and belief is simple, I believe in the bible but also remind myself that it was written by men who lived during that time. So I don’t believe in taking verses out of the bible to prove a point. However, most important to me is to be kind to others. I have seen people walk right by a man convulsing on the cement and not even stop to help. Of course we put his head on something soft and dialed 911 until the medics got there. Also I believe that we are all the same, the different colors are like the colors of the rainbow, God can do anything so why not make us different shapes and colors. So try as best we can to love our neighbor as ourselves. Walk the walk don’t spend your time judging others. I think you and I have a few things in common Dragos. I feel blessed to be your friend, and appreciate your work – (big fan) Have an amazing week. Big hugs, Joni

You never disappoint, love a story that ends in death. Frankly, every story ends in death or dies.

You’re right, every story ends in death or dies, but the important thing is to have contained love somewhere across its course 🙂
