I have a stack of poems, (thoughts)
Need to get off my chest
And now I have a website
Can offload weak (and best)
It doesn’t matter what they are
It is my therapy
Which every writer wants to do
With me? it’s poetry
There is the constant tug-of-war
Write for myself or you?
This time I really do not care
Who likes it, me or you

Don’s poem is a sincere reflection of a writer’s spirit seeking solace in creative expression. Settling one’s thoughts into words is a tremendous effort but the energy generated feeds the spirit. It’s like a drug that soothes and heals, allowing one to be carried upon the shoulders of imagination. A real treat for those who care enough not to care too much. Let the mind and heart roam.
Congratulations Don!

Thanks Terveen. Yes, let the mind, and heart roam. You never know what it might bring back…….

Totally relatable and well said, Don. The tug o’ war you mention in the last stanza is a real thing, for sure. Writing as an act of therapy keeps us putting pen to paper, and the act itself can be more important and meaningful than the end result. 🙂

It is something every writer goes through each time they put pen to paper. Wonderfully said.

My husband tells me the same thing all the time Don. We have to be true to ourselves. 🦋
