“The safest way to kill
a small child,” she told him,
“is,
of course,
to leave it in a hot car.”
He scratched his
head. Thought
about it
“Since you didn’t murder it
directly,” she went on,
“and only due
to pure ignorance,
your punishment is going to
be almost
nothing.”
“But, wouldn’t it be
a better idea
to push the kid from a high
place and claim
that he fell?”
“Dumbass, you live on the
ground floor. If you go searching
for any high places
they’ll know
the reason behind it, don’t
you think?”
“Oh… yeah, you’re right.
I’m not very good
with thinking.
That’s why I’ve asked for your
help.”
She gave a soft chuckle
as her hands
turned from floating ash
to dark obsidian
that caressed his face
and put a claw inside his ear
She was half moth
half snake, the muse
that will bless him with
literary success
once he
gives his own child
as sacrifice in
exchange,
as the deal was
Her obsidian claw
made circle motions deep
into his ear,
causing him to cringe with
pain
She brought her moth eyes
against his
and said, “See, the good thing
about writing is
you don’t have to think.
The more you think,
the worse you make it.
Don’t think, don’t try. Just
follow the guidance of your
muse who knows better.
That’s all you
have to do.”
“Yes, Mistress. Might we
start right away then?”
“No, we might not start
right away.
I am hungry, darling.
Therefore you will get out of
bed now
and make a trip to the
store.
You will take your small
child along
and park the car somewhere
very far. Do you
understand? Only afterwards
we can start writing.”
“Y-yes, Mistress.”
She removed the obsidian claw
from his ear
rested the hand on
her scaled hips. Satisfaction
blazed in her grin.
“Please, call me Love.”
He nodded. “Yes, Love.”

Bogdan’s poem is about making the unbelievable believable. Satisfying the writing muse with the blood of an innocent child is creativity and inspiration competing for the crown of insanity. But what is horror if it bears a sane face? There’s so much to exploit from a fertile imagination. I wish that this writer doesn’t go through with it and is apprehended before he takes the next step. Horrific and wicked.
Congratulations Bogdan!

Hmm. I hate those stories about babies left in cars….

ᕕ( ಥʖ̯ಥ )ᕗ Yeah, me too.
It literally never happens where I’m from. That’s why I’ve always wondered how in the world could something like that be a real thing… I mean, I’m not judging anyone in particular, but still… Who would just leave a child like that and completely forget about it?

Sometimes it is ignorance of the parents but people think it is a planned action.
We should think pros and cons of our action.
A similar incident happened here in my city. Child was alone in the car ( Sleeping) . Car was locked and AC was ON but with the chlorofluorocarbon gas child suffocated and died .

Great piece of writing Dragos. Loved the claw in the ear too. The lengths people will go to please their muse. Loved this Dragos. The illustration Terveen picked was great with this piece. You probably don’t get to watch too much TV but AppleTV plus has a show right now that is called Servant. The whole story is based on this exact happening. That is all I am going to say, but it is a show I think you would be quite entertained by. M. Night Shyamalan. This I think may be his best work to date – I am a big fan of his work. Hugs, Joni
