Embers Spin by Jeff Flesch

You come in dreams

wearing

a fever-halo of memories

a bounty, and a plight

of humanities consciousness

a dearth of commitment

and of feeling

keeps the planet stuck

spinning

to sounds, lost

and buoyantly star-struck

with illusion

and with the embers of a fire

learning

how

to rebuild notions of love

from hearts

worth saving

among the stars above

Jeff writes of the universe as it dwells within us, and we dwell within it. There’s beauty and hope in the lines of this poem. A reminder that as all seems lost to chaos and destruction, there is so much to salvage from the ruins of past mistakes. Simply knowing that the human spirit is timeless and forever evolving is a reason to build new bonds of love and compassion.
    Congratulations Jeff!
