The graveyard I put myself to sleep in is as cosy as ever, without ever having to waste any second missing the sheets you let me sleep on, wrinkling my skin with nightmares of our lives. The silence that echoes in between my ears numbs the pain that courses through my blood. There are moments when I wonder if dreams had stories to tell or songs that muted themselves in anticipation for lyrics that breathe life into them. I’m eternally grateful to the vacuum we’re adrift in, for it multiplies the distance that separates us, and amplifies the hope of never having to cross each other’s paths again. May the prayers be said and sacrifices be made in the name of our existential bliss; may we live forever, may forever end tonight.

It’s better to be dead than alive, because the dead can’t dream, and won’t have any nightmares, and won’t be haunted by the ghosts of those, memories.

We are haunted by our imagination and can’t get out of it.

Bharath’s writing takes one deep into the human psyche, expressing what many of us feel but don’t know how to put into words. Realizations matter the most when we mark them as detours in our journeys, accepting that which would be easier to ignore. Alive or dead or hanging in between, let’s hope that each day keeps us reflecting upon the choices that can be made for a different tomorrow.
Congratulations Bharath!
