They’ve both just bought a mansion
Splashed out twenty mill
Theatre, resort-size swimming pool
Sixteen bathrooms as well
Which makes things nice, convenient
No more they’ll have to wait
At the shower entrance
For other to vacate
It also has a tennis court
When naught they have to do
With gin and tonics served by Jeeves
(Don’t ask how many loos?….)
The swimming pool’s it’s pride and joy
(Oblong, it is not curved)
Relaxing in the LA sun
Royalty deserved
But do they have the money
To pay the mortgage rate?
Twenty thousand monthly
(The lenders will not wait)
They’ll also have to pay for
The best security
Financial burden’s piling up
(Or so it seems to me)
Maybe the Queen’s gifted it?….
Or someone bought it for them?….

Don’s poetic pondering is a reflection upon riches and fame and those who lay claim to them. There’s no such thing as too much wealth when the wants are beyond imagination. But how many can actually sustain themselves without draining the pockets of others? We’re all familiar with such stories and they just seem to be growing in number. The sarcastic undercurrent is much appreciated.
Congratulations Don!
