To lower one’s self to spending time with real people by Bogdan Dragos

blazing scars

adorned her slim arms

and her shiny shoulders

and her small, round face

It could only mean

one thing

She had a horrible fight

with her imaginary friends

again

Whenever one of those

events occurred she

had to get away from them

for a while, until things

cooled off again

To get away from

imaginary friends

one had to lower one’s self

to spending time with

real people (Ew!)

It was

terrible

It was

a curse

“But I gotta do it,” she said. “I got

this empty bottle

of vodka

that I don’t remember emptying

and I’m gonna fucking swing it

against a wall

and I’m gonna go to the mall

and stick

the sharp end of it into

the guard’s belly. He’s gonna cry

like the bitch he is

and call for reinforcements

and then they’re gonna take me

to jail again.

I’ll meet plenty

of real

people in there. And I’ll

talk to them until

things with my real friends

cool off.”

“No!” he said. “Look, I’ll be your

friend. I’ll be by

your side. Forever if you

allow me to. You don’t need

to do all these

crazy things. I… love you!”

“Ew!” she said, “Stay away from me.

You’re contagious.”

And he asked, “What?”

“I’m sorry,” she said, “But you’re…

Chronically boring. Always talking

about love and shit like

that. I don’t want

someone like that as a friend.

I don’t wanna become

afflicted with boredom. So please,

stay away from me.”

She left him crying

again

and grabbed her empty bottle

of vodka

Swung it against the wall

Admired the jagged end that formed

after breaking

Gave it a lick

Cut her tongue

Swallowed the blood

Smiled

and went

on her way to the mall

wearing a sneaker on

the left foot

and a sandal on the right one

Swinging that broken

bottle

and singing, “Fee-fi-fo-fum!

Cut the pussy and cum!

Make that blood taste like rum.

Yum-yum! Yum-yum! Who wants

some, eh? Who wants some?”

She’s alive alright. This is great writing as always Bogdan. Cutting right to the crux of the matter. Everyone needs an outlet. That inner scream can only stay within your head for so long.

Yeah, repressed feelings can only explode if an outlet is not provided.
And some of those explosions are lighter than others, but some can be truly devastating…

Dragos, sadly enough some people are addicted to bad guys and drama. Drink enough and it will always follow you I am sure. This is a great write but a sad one for sure. I know from living with me parents that addiction can be a horrible bed fellow. She didn’t want to be helped even though someone wanted to be there for her. You write the hard truth about the lives of so many that live just above the mouth of the earth that can swallow them up. It also makes them vulnerable. Great piece. Yes they have always used gorgous women for alcohol commercials. Kind of sad! Big hugs Dragos

      Thank you, Joni!
      H U G S!

I do believe one of the worst feelings ever is to see someone you truly love descend into self-destruction, and not be able to do anything about it. You want to help them, yet they would do anything BUT accept your help…
